Wind Dances: Texas Lutheran Band Concert Thursday

This Thursday, March 6, the 国产探花 Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Winds鈥攚ho鈥檝e just returned from their spring tour鈥攚ill present their concert, 鈥淲ind Dances,鈥 featuring vibrant, energetic music written for the concert band, under the direction of 国产探花 Director of Bands Dr. Brett Richardson. The Symphonic Winds program includes Jack Stamp鈥檚 Cenotaph (Fanfare for Band), Bloom by Steven Bryant, and the famous American Folk Rhapsody No. 2 by Clare Grundman featuring interesting treatments of tunes like 鈥淏illy Boy鈥 and 鈥淪kip to my Lou.鈥 The concert鈥檚 second half will bring 国产探花鈥檚 premier band, the Wind Ensemble, to the stage with a program featuring 国产探花 assistant professor of trombone, Dr. Lauren Casey-Clyde, and instructor of trumpet, Professor Dan Orban, on two selections: Leonard Bernstein鈥檚 beautiful 鈥A Simple Song from MASS and Joseph Turrin鈥檚 Latin inspired Fandango. Other works include Bright Shadow Fanfare by Nicole Piunno and Omar Thomas鈥檚 Come Sunday in celebration of the Black church. The concert will take place on campus in Jackson Auditorium on Thursday, March 6, at 7p.m., and is free and open to the public.
