The community is invited to enjoy “Snapshots of History,” a concert performed by ����̽�� faculty and students, on March 31 at 7 p.m. in Ayers Recital Hall.

“This concert will focus on a wide range of woman composers from Hildegard von Bingen (~1150) to Clara Schumann (1846) to Sarah Dubois (2017) and will feature several ����̽�� faculty performances and even a few student performances,” says Dr. Heather Couture, Assistant Professor of Musicology Studies at ����̽��. “We will also briefly discuss the historical periods these women lived in and what life was like for them.”

The concert is part of the university’s annual celebration of Women’s History month. “Because women have so often been overlooked throughout music history, we find the need to clarify that they do exist by highlighting the 'woman' aspect of the 'woman' composer,” Couture explains. “While this concert does indeed highlight the 'woman' aspect of these composers, it will also highlight the human aspect.  These women lived, worked, taught, suffered, loved, resisted, and inspired.  Let's share in their incredible stories together.”

Ayers Recital Hall is located within the Schuech Fine Arts Center, and the concert is free and open to all. Couture says the evening will be one to remember. “Come appreciate beautiful music from Medieval to today, learn about the lives of women throughout history, and enjoy yummy refreshments!”
